"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the film, commenting that he could not remember "one day without joy".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a different essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
