Jet Transporting Pete Hegseth Forced to Touch Down in UK Due to Fracture in Windshield
A jet transporting the US defense secretary was forced to make an emergency landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was found in the aircraft's cockpit window, per an official announcement which confirmed that Hegseth was safe.
"The plane landed in accordance with standard procedures and all individuals on the flight, such as Pete Hegseth, is secure," a press officer said in a online announcement.
Hegseth was returning from a quick journey to the city of Brussels at the time.
This event does not mark the first time that a United States armed forces jet ferrying a high-ranking official has encountered technical problems.
Earlier this year, a United States Air Force aircraft ferrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Munich was required to turn back to Washington DC after encountering a mechanical problem.
